Our favourite event of the year is nearly upon us – the Amsterdam Light Festival 2019 is coming to town! Last year’s Amsterdam Light Festival with its popular Van Gogh-inspired installation, Starry Night, was a great success and we are looking forward to this year’s festival, which promises to inspire visitors, locals and art enthusiasts alike. The theme of the Amsterdam Light Festival 2019/2020 is ‘Disrupt!’, and this year’s event certainly promises to shake up the city!
There will be 23 light artworks and 10 ‘city stories’ dotted along the route.

This winter’s Amsterdam Light Festival will take place between the 28th November 2019 and 19th January 2020. All the installations will be lit up from 17.00 – 23.00.

Our friends at Starboard Boats are an official partner of the Amsterdam Light Festival. They will be conducting their extremely popular ALF cruises again this year, aboard their brand-new electric boat (complete with a cover and heated cushions – important for the unreliable weather during the Dutch winter!). Last year, they welcomed over two thousand visitors onto their boat and have received many re-bookings for this year from happy guests!
Although some of the Amsterdam Light Festival can be seen by foot, the installations are built to be seen from the water and sitting back on Starboard’s boat with a hot glass of Glühwein is undoubtedly the finest way to enjoy this fantastic cultural festival.
